# Find ski buddies and snowboard friends in Alaska

> Find ski buddies and snowboard friends in Alaska, check the Alyeska Resort forecast, and plan a shared day in Girdwood from Anchorage.

Alaska's mountain in the SkiBuds catalogue is Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, so a riding group usually means an Anchorage-area day trip or a visit planned around Alyeska. Put your dates and the terrain you have in mind in the first message.

## Make a meetup that fits the journey

If you are driving from Anchorage, share your general departure area, whether you need a ride, and your return time. Visitors can suggest a public base-area meeting point instead. Midwinter daylight is short this far north, so agree on a start time and a regrouping point.

Use [ski club and community resources](https://skibudsapp.com/resources) to look for existing groups. Our [riding buddy meetup checklist](https://skibudsapp.com/guides/ski-buddy-meetup-checklist) helps you agree on terrain, pace, and a first meeting.

## Read the mountain forecast before confirming

Coastal weather can bring snow, rain, or strong wind, and conditions can differ between the base and the upper mountain. Read the elevation behind the outlook, compare it with the resort's report, and check Alaska 511 for the Seward Highway before you go.

## A message you can adapt for Alaska

> Alaska ski or snowboard buddy: Alyeska, [date], [terrain] at [pace]. Leaving [general area] around [time] or meeting at [public base point]. I have [lift access]; anyone up for a few laps?
