Information Collected Automatically
- Location Data: With your permission, we collect your device's location — including in the background while you are actively recording a ski session — to show nearby ski resorts, enable check-ins, and track your runs. If (and only if) you turn on live location sharing on the mountain map, your real-time location is shared with your friends; this is off by default and you can turn it off at any time.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers.
- Usage Data: How you interact with the app, features used, and time spent.
- Push Notification Tokens: To send you notifications about messages and updates.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the SkiBuds service
- Create and manage your account
- Enable social features like messaging, friend connections, and check-ins
- Send you push notifications about new messages and activity
- Show you relevant ski resort information based on your location
- Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activities
- Comply with legal obligations
Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in these situations:
- With Other Users: Your profile, check-ins, and messages are visible to other users based on your privacy settings. When you enable live location sharing, your real-time location is shared with your friends only, for as long as sharing is on.
- Service Providers: We share data with third-party services that help us operate the app (Firebase, cloud storage, analytics).
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Third-Party Services
Our app uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, and cloud storage
- Bugsnag: Error reporting and monitoring
- Expo: App development and push notifications
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing their use of your data.

SkiBuds is an 18+ application. It is not intended for and may not be used by anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a person under 18, please contact us and we will delete the account and associated information.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States where our servers are located.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.

Data Deletion Request

- Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account in the app
- Or email us at Powwowllc1@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request"
