Track your ski and snowboard runs with GPS

How many runs did you make? Where did you explore? SkiBuds is being rebuilt with GPS ski and snowboard tracking, so you can record a resort day and revisit it afterward. Tracking sits alongside rider discovery, maps, chat, and weather in the upcoming iOS and Android app.

Record the day from the mountain map

Start a tracking session from the map, then stop it when you have finished riding. The tracking system detects runs and lift rides and records distance, vertical, speed, and duration. Session summaries help you review the day without treating every lift ride as another run.

Saved activities appear in Activity History. Open a day to review its summary and recorded route, then use it to remember where you rode with your crew.

GPS measurements depend on your device, signal, and permissions. Treat recorded speed and distance as activity estimates, and keep attention on the mountain while you ride.

See more than a run count

• Runs and lifts: review detected downhill runs and lift rides in your session.
• Vertical and distance: follow how much terrain you covered during the day.
• Time and speed: revisit your session duration and recorded speed information.
• Route and history: look back at saved days rather than losing the record after you leave the resort.

These features are part of the rebuild. Their availability does not imply that every resort has the same trail or lift map coverage.

Share a Day Recap with your crew

A Day Recap turns a saved activity into a summary of time, distance, vertical, runs, and lifts. Send it to a chat or story to share the day with friends. You choose whether to include the resort name or maximum speed.

The recap leaves out your exact GPS route and precise start and finish locations. Your saved activity details and a shared recap serve different purposes: one helps you review your own session, and the other lets you share selected stats.

Understand permissions and offline maps

Tracking requires location permission. Recording while SkiBuds is in the background also depends on background location permission. Review those permissions before starting a session and consider your phone's battery needs for the day.

Supported resort base maps can be downloaded before you lose service. GPS and a downloaded base map can remain useful without a connection, while weather, chat, live friend locations, and some trail or terrain overlays still need one. A map download does not include every live layer.

Connect the record with the whole day

The mountain day starts before you press record. Use snow forecasts to explore the outlook, find ski buddies or snowboard partners who share your pace, and agree on a plan in chat. At the end, a recap gives you something to share with the people who made it a good day.
