Portage, Wisconsin
Cascade Mountain
Cascade Mountain is near Portage between Madison and Wisconsin Dells, with access from the Interstate 90/94 corridor. It is a day and night ski destination rather than a resort with its own overnight lodging, so accommodation and slope access need separate planning.

- Far Out beginner cruiser
- Cottontail progression park
Terrain and ability at Cascade
Far Out and Adele's Alley are longer beginner cruising routes. Freestyle progression starts with smaller features on Cottontail, while Mountain Top Park and J.J. provide other park options. Choose a park by feature size and ability rather than assuming every area is interchangeable.
Arrival, bases and lessons
Check the date-specific ticket calendar and advance-purchase requirements before driving. Cascade offers equipment rentals and lessons for different levels. Snow tubing has its own hours and tickets, so a skier's day plan should not stand in for a tubing reservation.
Plan a Cascade meetup
Specify a base meeting landmark and whether your ticket covers daytime, evening or both. Give learners time for equipment collection, then set a reunion at the bottom. A night-only group should check the day's closing time before choosing its start.
Use the meetup message planner to agree on your date, terrain, pace and meeting point.
