People and mountain planning

Find ski buddies and snowboard friends in Alberta

Alberta's mountains in the SkiBuds catalogue sit in Banff National Park, so a riding group often forms around a Calgary day trip or a stay in Banff or Lake Louise. Name the resort and date: Norquay, Sunshine Village, and Lake Louise are separate mountains with separate meeting points.

Make a meetup that fits the journey

For a day trip from Calgary, share your general departure area, whether you need a ride, and when you need to be back. If you are staying in Banff, suggest a public base-area meeting point instead. Parks Canada sets the park entry requirements, so check them along with your lift access before the day.

Use ski club and community resources to look for existing groups. Our riding buddy meetup checklist helps you agree on terrain, pace, and a first meeting.

Read the mountain forecast before confirming

Read the forecast for the specific mountain, including temperature and wind; a cold, clear day and a storm day call for different plans. Compare it with the resort's report, then check 511 Alberta for the highway. A Calgary forecast is not a mountain forecast.
