Buttermilk is the Aspen Snowmass mountain with a strong learning and freestyle identity. Panda Peak and mellow groomers make it a useful place to build confidence, while its terrain parks and X Games connection give experienced park riders a different reason to visit.

Terrain and ability at Buttermilk

The mountain's gentle green and blue routes are distinct from its freestyle features. Beginners can focus on Panda Peak and lesson terrain; park riders should select features for their own skill. The Hideout is a dedicated children's learning facility, rather than a general meeting lounge.

Arrival, bases and lessons

The base Guest Services building brings tickets, rentals and retail together before a lesson. Children’s programs use The Hideout, while private lessons meet at Buttermilk Plaza. Check your specific confirmation; Buttermilk Mountain Lodge at the base and Cliffhouse higher up are different reunion points.

Plan a Buttermilk meetup

Use the base lodge for a first gathering with new skiers or non-skiing friends. If you later choose Cliffhouse, agree on an appropriate route and a return time. Keep a beginner group's plan separate from a terrain-park session.
