Cataloochee Ski Area is above Maggie Valley in North Carolina's Smoky Mountains. Its ski slopes and Tube World are separate destinations: the ski area is on Ski Lodge Road, while the tubing operation is down on Soco Road in town.

Terrain and ability at Cataloochee
The resort offers beginner instruction and wider ski and snowboard terrain. A slope pass and appropriate ski or snowboard equipment are required even on the learning slopes. New participants should book a lesson rather than treating the bunny slope as a walking or sledding area.
Arrival, bases and lessons
The mountain approach follows Fie Top Road from US 19 and then Ski Lodge Road. Check the ski area's road and snow report before departure. Slope access, rentals and lessons are separate purchases, so review every part of a first-time booking.
