Whiteface Mountain
Whiteface is the Wilmington ski mountain near Lake Placid, with Bear Den providing a dedicated starting area away from the main base. Its ski entrance and the Veterans' Memorial Highway are different destinations, a distinction that matters when navigating to a winter meetup.

Terrain and ability at Whiteface
Bear Den's Cub and Coyote carpets and Falcon Flyer serve the learning progression. The Notch adds connections and beginner-to-intermediate options; the rest of Whiteface includes substantially more demanding terrain. A learning-area ticket should not be treated as unrestricted access to the upper mountain.
Arrival, bases and lessons
Whiteface directs all lessons to Bear Den Lodge. From the main resort entrance, cross the bridge and follow Bear Den Road to its parking and drop-off area. Use the ski-resort directions, rather than the highway's separate Route 431 address.

Meet lesson-taking friends at a named public spot at Bear Den, then arrange a later main-base regroup if others are exploring the upper mountain. State which lodge you mean and keep the learning group within the terrain and lifts covered by its tickets.
