Big Sky spreads its skiing and snowboarding across a large Lone Mountain landscape with several starting points. Mountain Village, Madison Base and Montage are separate access locations, so the base you choose shapes your group's first lifts and eventual return.

Terrain and ability at Big Sky

The mountain guide describes a range from beginner runs to expert and extreme terrain. Lone Peak access is not a substitute for choosing an appropriate ski route. Use the map to agree on a zone, and check the current rules for any tram or summit plans.

Arrival, bases and lessons

Match rentals and lessons to the base area on your booking. Madison has its own parking, services and lift access; meeting there is different from meeting in Mountain Village.

Plan a meetup at Big Sky

Put the base area and a specific public landmark into the invitation. If friends ski between sides, allow time to get back to the original base before connecting lifts close rather than assume every route ends beside the same car.
